High-level talks needed to reactivate Sultanganj River Port: Adviser Shakhawat

RAJSHAHI, August 1, 2025 (BSS) - Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Shakhawat Hossain has said reactivation of the Sultanganj River Port in Godagari here require high-level talks.

During a visit to the site today, he said the port needs better infrastructure, road connections, and clearance from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to begin operations. Since several government agencies are involved, he stressed the importance of coordination.

"If everyone works together, the port can open soon," he said.

BIWTA Chairman Arif Ahmed Mostofa, and the presidents of the Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj Chambers of Commerce, Masudur Rahman and Abdul Wahed, respectively also joined the visit.
