BAGERHAT, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Coast Guard arrested an alleged bandit gang member with firearms and ammunition from the Kumrokathi Khal area in the Sundarbans under Dakop Police Station in the district this morning.

The arrestee was identified as Kamrul Sardar (55), a resident of Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district. He is reportedly a member of the Dulabhai Bahini, a notorious bandit gang of the Sundarbans.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the Coast Guard launched an operation in the area around 6 am. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the gang tried to flee. However, the Coast Guard members managed to arrest Kamrul from the scene, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq said.

A single-barrel gun, three rounds of live cartridges and seven rounds of empty cartridges were also recovered from his possession.

Further legal proceedings are underway, Siam-ul-Haq said, adding that such operations will continue to keep the Sundarbans free of bandits.
