Nat'l and Int'l Youth Day observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - With various programs, including youth rallies, oath-taking and cleanliness drives, the National and International Youth Day was observed in Khulna today. 

This year's theme was "Technology-driven Youth Power, Progress through Multilateral Partnerships."

On the occasion, an oath-taking ceremony, discussion meeting, and youth loan cheque distribution were held in the morning at the conference room of Sonadanga Youth Center. 

Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam said, "The youth are the driving force of the country.

He said a youth-friendly governance system is necessary for building a sustainable better Bangladesh. 

"Currently, young people aged 15 to 29 make up nearly one-fifth of the population. We must turn them into human resources through proper training. For this, the government and development partners must adequately invest in developing youth skills," he added. 

Md. Mostak Uddin, Deputy Director of the Khulna Youth Development Department, presided over the meeting.
 
Jointly organised by the Khulna District Administration and the Youth Development Department, the event addressed, among others, by H.M. Nuruzzaman, Deputy Coordinator of the Youth Training Center, Fuli Sarkar, Senior Manager of World Vision, Abdullah Al Mamun, Area Coordinator of TIB, and student representatives Al Shahriar Islam and Saif Newaz.
Md. Parvez Molla, Assistant Director of the Youth Development Department, conducted the event. 

Later, youth loan cheques worth Tk 11.22 million were distributed among 51 young men and 60 young women through two metropolitan police station units and nine upazila offices in the district.

In addition, 36 fruit trees were planted in the Youth Development Department premises in memory of the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.
