Imam dies in Madaripur road crash

MADARIPUR, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - An imam of a local mosque was killed in a road accident on the Bashkandi-Sheikhpur road in Dakshin Bashkandi union under Shibchar upazila of the district early today.


The deceased was Maulana Abdur Rahman, 37, son of late Hakim Ali Howlader, a resident of the same area.


The accident occurred in the area when a motorcycle hit a roadside tree as its rider Abdur Rahman lost control of the vehicle. 


Later, local people rescued injured Abdur Rahman and took him to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 


Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter and said the body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives.
