National Fisheries Week begins in Narail

NARAIL, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - Week-long 'National Fisheries Week-2025' began today in the district to promote sustainable development and expansion of fisheries resources.

This year, the theme of the week is "Building sanctuaries makes the country rich with local fish".

On the occasion, a colorful rally was bought out from Deputy Commissioner's office which paraded the main streets and ended at Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office this morning. 

After the rally, a discussion was held at the conference room of the UNO office.

District Fisheries Officer H.M Badruzzaman presided over the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sharmin Akhter Jahan was present as chief guest at the occasion.
 
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Linkon Biswas, Narail SadarUpazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanchita Biswas, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Deputy Director Md. Jashim Uddin, District Information Officer Md. Rostom Ali, SadarUpazila Agricultural officer Md. Rokunuzzaman and Narail Press Club vice-president Sultan Mahmood, among others, were preset.

After the discussion, three fishermen were awarded from three upazilas of the district.
