Two business establishments fined TK 72,000 in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in two separate drives today fined two business establishments Taka 72,000 for cheating in weights and selling expired products at Shothibari Bazar in Mithapukur upazila of the district.

The Rangpur divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Mithapukur upazila administration jointly conducted the drives this afternoon, said a press release.

Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mithapukur upazila administration Md Multamis Billah led the mobile court.

During the drive, the court fined Messer's Bhabona Filling Station at Shothibari Bazar Taka 70,000 for cheating in measures of fuels while selling to consumers.

In another drive at the same Bazar, the court also fined Messer's Maya Bakery and Confectionery Taka 2000 for selling expired products.

The BSTI prosecutors Field Officers (Certification Marks) Md Zaminur Rahman and Md Zulkarnain and Inspectors (Metrology) Md Ahsan Habib and Tahzibul Islam were present during the drive.

Talking to BSS today, Deputy Director (Physical) and Rangpur Divisional Office Chief of BSTI Mobin-Ul-Islam said that the divisional BSTI office will continue such drives in the public interest.
