Seeds, fertilizer distributed among farmers in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - Maskalai dal seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed to small and marginal farmers in Tungipara upazila of the district under the agri incentive programme in Kharif 2025-26 season.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Akhter distributed the incentives among the farmers at the Upazila Agriculture Office premises this afternoon.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Rakibul Islam, Agricultural Extension Officer Mithun Sarkar and others were present, among others.

Agriculture Officer Rakibul Islam said the life span of Bari Maskalai-3 (Hemanta) variety is only 70 days and the average yield per hectare is 1.6 tons. Cultivation of pulses is not only ensures human nutritional security but also increases soil fertility.

Under the programme, 125 selected farmers of the upazila have been provided with five kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP and five kg of MOP fertilizer for cultivating Maskalai.
