NATORE, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - The construction of the "Street Memory Stamp" here in the district, in memory of the martyrs of the July mass uprising, has been completed.

The work was implemented by the Natore Zila Parishad with technical support from the Local Government Engineering Department at the site where five martyrs lost their lives.

A total of eight people from the district were martyred during the July mass uprising. Among them, two were killed in Dhaka and one in Gazipur, while the remaining five were burned in the house of former lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul in the PTI Road area of the town on August 5.

Among the burn victims, Mehedi Hasan Robin succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Dhaka.

The bodies of the remaining four martyrs - Shaon Khan Siam, Mikdad Hossain Khan Akib, Shariful Islam Mohon, and Yasin Ali - were recovered from the house on August 6.

Five street memory stamps have been constructed near the site where the victims were burned, along the boundary wall of the ICT Training and Incubation Center.

The main memorial plaques or stamps stand eight feet tall, with the brief identity of each martyr engraved on a black base. A red metal circular disc at the top bears the name and birth and death dates of each martyr.

Executive Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department, Natore district, Md. Iqbal Hossain , told BSS that five separate street memory stamps have been completed in memory of Mehedi Hasan Robin, Shaon Khan Siam, Mikdad Hossain Khan Akib, Shariful Islam Mohon, and Yasin Ali, with technical assistance from the department.

Natore Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shamim Bhuiya said that implementing the street memory stamp project in honor of the five martyrs of Natore provides a sense of satisfaction. The constructed stamps will stand as a lasting tribute to the glory of the martyrs, he added.
