3 fishermen held for fishing illegally in Sundarbans

KHULNA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - Forest guards have detained three fishermen along with a boat for illegally catching crab in the Batular Totha area of the Western Sundarbans last night.

The arrested fishermen were identified as Md Ismail Morol, 55, son of late Daud Ali Morol, Md Asadul Gazi, 42, son of Md Hashem Ali Gazi and Md Abdur Rahman, 30, son of Khodabox Gazi - all residents of Chandnimukha village under shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira.

According to the forest Department, a patrol team from the Kobadok Forest Station carried out the raid around 11.30pm in the Batular Totha area of the Arongpashia River in Sundarbans.

The patrol team arrested them as they failed to show any legal permit for entering the Sundarbans. Sheikh Md Anisur Rahman, Officer of Kobadak Forest Station, confirmed the matter.

He also confirmed the seizure, stating that forest officials confiscated 28 kg of crab and other equipment from their possession.
