Illegal goods, drugs worth Tk 2.11cr seized in Kurigram borders

KURIGRAM, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives seized various smuggled goods and drugs worth Taka 2.11 crore from different border areas of the district during the last seven days (September 1-7).

BGB also arrested two drug peddlers.

Commander of BGB-22 Battalion of Kurigram Lt. Col. Mohammad Mahbub ul Haque PSC confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning. 

The two arrested persons are Mominul Islam, 24, son of Bachchu Rahman of Dakshin Bashjani village under Bhurungamari upazila of the district and Md. Humayun Kabir, 20, son of Bablu Mia of Kamat Angaria village of the same upazila. 

The BGB commander said that the seized items are 125 Indian cattle (cows and buffaloes), 635 bottles liquor, 145-kg ganja, 772 pieces of yaba tablets, 559-kg cumin seeds, 190-kg sugar, complete dresses - 496 pieces, Indian 79 thousand rupees, chocolate fireworks 45 thousand 150 pieces, cosmetics items - various types of creams, oils, shampoos.

The BGB has informed that the regular activities of the force will continue to prevent drugs and smuggling through the border area.
