Man fined Tk 50,000 for lifting sand in Tangail

TANGAIL, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court, in a drive, fined a man Taka 
50,000 for extracting sand illegally at Bhuapur upazila of the district 
today.

A mobile team led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate 
Md. Rajib Hossain conducted the drive in the Khanurbari area of the Jamuna 
River this afternoon and fined Abdul Barek, 40, Taka 50,000 for illegal sand 
mining.

Members of the Bhuapur Naval Police Outpost were present at the time. 

Barek is the son of late Siraj Akand of Ruhuli village of the upazila.

Executive Magistrate Md. Rajib Hossain said that Abdul Barek was caught red-
handed while illegally mining sand from the Jamuna River and taking it by 
boat in violation of government rules. 

Later, he confessed to the crime and was fined Taka 50,000 through a mobile 
court. Such drives against illegal sand miners will continue in the future, 
he added.
