Accused in Panchagarh gang rape case held in Ashulia

RANGPUR, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused in a sensational gang rape case of Panchagarh district from the Gouripur area under Ashulia Police Station of Dhaka district on Tuesday evening.
 
The detainee was identified as Md Mamun, 50, son of Tabibar Rahman of village Kazipara under Sadar Police Station of Panchagarh district, said a press release issued this night. 
 
The release said that the victim and the arrested accused were known to each other as they were neighbors in the same village. 
 
The arrested accused, on August 7, 2025, forcibly called the victim to a tea garden near the Amtala Bara Bridge on the Chawai River under Sadar police station in Panchagarh district and gang-raped her in turns with their accomplices.
 
Later, the victim filed a gang rape case with Panchagarh Sadar Police Station in this incident on August 18, 2025.
 
On a tip off, a joint team of the RAB-13's Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 from Nilphamari camp and RAB-4's CPC-2 from Savar Camp in a raid arrested Md Mamun from the Gouripur area under Ashulia Police Station at 6 pm. 
 
The arrested accused was handed over to Panchagarh Sadar Police Station for further legal action.
