NAOGAON, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - A housewife was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in the Kathatali area of the district town this morning.

The deceased was identified as Juthi, 22, daughter of Jhuntu Pramanik of Anandanagar Mridhapara in Naogaon Sadar upazila.

Quoting Juthi's father, Police said, Juthi fell in love with a man named Tanvir, a resident of Gazipur, Dhaka, about a year ago and later married him. However, a few months after their marriage, Juthi came to know that Tanvir was already married. Upon learning this, she returned to Naogaon and filed a case against him.

Today was the scheduled hearing date of the case. Juthi left her home around 10:30 am to go to court. Meanwhile, Tanvir was reportedly waiting by the side of the main road. As Juthi approached, Tanvir allegedly stabbed her and fled the scene.

Locals immediately rescued Juthi and took her to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station Noor Alam Siddiqui said police rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. The body has been sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

The matter will be thoroughly investigated, and necessary legal action will be taken, the OC added.
