Five held with ganja, phensedyl in Lalmonirhat, Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested five suspected drug peddlers along with a large quantity of ganja and phensedyl in separate drives in Lalmonirhat and Rangpur districts last night and today.

According to a press release issued here this afternoon, the seized items include 31.054 kg of ganja, 198 bottles of phensedyl, and a covered van.

In a drive early today, an operational team of RAB-13 Battalion Sadar Company recovered 31.054 kg of ganja and arrested two persons from Uttar Dolgram village under Kaliganj Police Station in Lalmonirhat around 3:10 am.

The arrestees are Khitish Chandra Roy, 40, and his wife Dipali Rani, 38.

In another drive on Wednesday night, a special team of RAB-13 intercepted a covered van in the Gangachara Police Station area of Rangpur around 10:10 pm, seized 198 bottles of phensedyl, and arrested three persons.

The arrested persons are--Abdul Motaleb alias Shanto, 25, of Miyapur village, Arif Hasan, 18, of Bara Kagna village under Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali, and Md Israfil, 27, of Moliara village under Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla.

Separate cases were filed in connection with the incidents. The arrested persons, along with the seized drugs and vehicle, were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
