Five-maund touchstone statue recovered in Bogura

BOGURA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered a touchstone statue weighing about five maunds (190 kg) and arrested two people from the South Aman area under Kusumbi Union of Sherpur Upazila in the district. 

The arrestees are Abul Bashar Rubel (55), son of late Afaz Uddin of Sherua Forest Gate area under Bandegi Union, and Al Amin (48), son of late Abu Bakr Siddique of Sadar Upazila in Sirajganj district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive on Sunday afternoon inside a machine room on the bank of a pond in the area. The team recovered the statue hidden under a haystack and arrested Abul Bashar and Al Amin for their alleged involvement, said Squadron Leader Firoz Ahmed, company commander of RAB-12 Bogura camp.

Legal action is being taken against the arrestees, he added.
