KHULNA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Forest guards in the eastern Sundarbans have
arrested three fishermen along with pesticides, shrimp and fishing equipment
during an anti-poaching drive.

Forest department sources said a patrol team from Supati Forest Station under
the Sharankhola Range detained them on Sunday evening while they were
allegedly using poison to catch shrimp in a canal of the Betmor River.

The arrestees were identified as Khalil, son of Siddiq Pahlowan; Al Amin, son
of Ismail Pahlowan; and Zahid, son of Siddiq Pahlowan, all hailing from
Rayenda village in Sharankhola upazila.

Two bottles of pesticide "Ripcord 10 EC" (one partially used), around 40
kilograms of shrimp, a "khalpata" net and a boat were seized from their
possession.

Sharankhola Range ACF Rana Deb said a case has been filed against them under
the Forest Act.

They were produced before a Bagerhat court on Monday.
