HABIGANJ, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindu community, will be celebrated at 659 mandaps across Habiganj district this year.

The five-day festival will begin on September 28 with Mahashashthi and conclude on October 2 with Bijoya Dashami and the immersion of idols in local water bodies.

Last-minute preparations are underway at the puja mandaps, with artisans working tirelessly to complete the idol-making process on time. Organizers said all arrangements are progressing smoothly.

Acting General Secretary of the Habiganj Puja Celebration Committee Mihir Das said, "This year, Durga Puja will be held at 659 mandaps. The district administration has held several coordination meetings with us. With their cooperation and uninterrupted power supply, we hope to celebrate the puja peacefully, as in previous years."

Local Puja Udjapan Parishad leaders echoed similar optimism about smooth celebrations.

The district administration and police have taken all necessary measures to ensure peaceful observance of the festival.

Habiganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Prabas Kumar Singh said a three-tier security arrangement will be in place, involving police, RAB, and army personnel to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
