DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – The government has allocated 16,495 tonnes of rice for 32,990 mandaps ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja across the country, an official press release said here today.

It said the disaster management and relief ministry sanctioned the food grains through which every mandaps would get 500 kg of rice.

In line with the decision the 16,495 metric tons of rice was allocated to deputy commissioners (DCs) or administrative heads of different districts for distribution to the mandap managements within their purview.

An official familiar with the process said the deputy commissioners were instructed to allocate the grains through upazila administrations taking into account the number, size, scale, financial capacity, and financial needs of the mandap and temples managements in their districts.

“They (DC’s) were advised to keep as reserved grains the excess if the number of mandaps or temples were found to be less than expected, keep proper records for audit purposes,” he said.
