2 business establishments fined Taka 55,000 in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined two business 
establishments Taka 55,000 for not having a packaging certificate for cake 
products and under-measurement of fuel oil in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha 
district.
 
The Rangpur Divisional Office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution 
(BSTI) and Palashbari upazila administration jointly conducted the drives at 
different places of the upazila on Monday, said a press release. 
 
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Palashbari upazila 
Md Al-Yasa Rahman Tapadar led the mobile court.
 
During the drive, the court fined Samia Bakery in the Girdharipur area under 
the upazila Taka 5,000 as per the "Weights and Measures Standards Act, 2018" 
for not having a packaging certificate for cake products. 
 
In addition, the court fined Messer's Roop Filling Station at the Mather Hat 
area Taka 50,000 as per the "Weights and Measurement Standards Act, 2018" for 
under-measurement of fuel oil.
 
The BSTI prosecutors were Field Officer (Certification Marks) Md Towhid Al 
Amin and Inspector (Metrology) Md Nasir Uddin. 
 
BSTI Rangpur Divisional Office will continue such campaigns in the public 
interest, the release added.
