Coast Guard helps pregnant woman with emergency medical aids on launch

CHANDPUR, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard provided emergency medical assistance to a pregnant woman who fell ill with labour pains aboard a passenger launch in the Haimchar area early Monday.

According to a press release issued today by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, the woman was en route to Dhaka from Patuakhali when she became seriously ill around 2:00am. Her husband called the Coast Guard emergency number for help.

A medical team from Coast Guard Station Chandpur rushed to the launch by high-speed boat and later transported the woman to Chandpur Sadar Hospital by ambulance.

She gave birth to a baby boy, and both mother and child are in good health, said the press release.
