KHULNA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will vaccinate over 1.72 lakh children as part of the upcoming Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025, which will begin on October 12.

An advocacy meeting was held on Monday at the City Health Building to discuss preparations for the campaign. KCC Administrator Md Feroz Sarkar attended the meeting as the chief guest.

With support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, the event stressed the importance of achieving full vaccination coverage. Officials also reassured the public that the typhoid vaccine is safe and has no harmful side effects.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, targeting schools, will run from October 12 to 30. The second phase, focusing on community areas, will be held from November 1 to 13. Children aged 9 to 15 will be vaccinated at 134 primary schools, 112 secondary schools, 319 other educational institutions, and various community centers across the city.

To carry out the campaign effectively, the city has been divided into four zones. A total of 62 supervisors, 252 vaccinators, and 350 volunteers will be deployed to ensure smooth and efficient coverage.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted that typhoid fever, which spreads through contaminated food and water, is a preventable disease that can lead to severe health complications and financial hardship for families. They stressed that vaccination will play a crucial role in reducing the risk of infection among children and improving overall public health in Khulna.
