GAIBANDHA, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) – Kumari Puja, one of the main rituals of the five-day Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, was celebrated at temples across the district today in a befitting manner.

Like elsewhere, the ritual was also performed at the temple of Sree Sree Ramkrishna Ashram and Mission on Shachin Chaki Road, adjacent to Gaibandha Adarsha College, around 11 am.

This year, Rakhi Misra, a grade-two student and daughter of Sumon Misra and Anu Misra of Masterpara in the town, was chosen for the Kumari Puja.

A large number of Hindu devotees offered Anjali (prayers) before the goddess, seeking blessings for peace, prosperity, welfare, fraternity, and good fortune.

President of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad district unit, Principal Paresh Chandra Saha, said a total of 585 puja mandaps have been set up across the seven upazilas of the district this year.

Of them, Kumari Puja was performed at 10 mandaps, he added.
