DHAKA, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today said that Durga Puja is not merely a religious observance but also a profound expression of humanity’s bond with nature and mutual love and respect among people.

“Goddess Durga reminds us of our responsibilities towards nature and the importance of harmonious human relationships through the rituals of Puja,” she said.

The adviser made the remarks while exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Sharadiya Durgotsav on the premises of the historic Dhakeshwari National Temple this afternoon.

She said that the worship of Goddess Durga is not limited to religious devotion alone; it also reflects a deep reverence for nature.

“Various agricultural products like rice, bananas, cashews, and pomegranates are offered during the Puja, symbolizing the intimate connection between human beings and the natural world,” she noted.

In the face of ongoing environmental degradation, food insecurity, and social challenges, festivals like Durga Puja serve as vital reminders of the value of nature, human unity, and shared responsibility, she added.

Speaking on Kumari Puja, the adviser said it is a symbol of dignity, power, and respect for women.

Reaffirming the spirit of communal harmony, she said, “Bangladesh belongs to all of us. There is no space for division here. Progress is possible only through collective effort and unity.”

Metropolitan Sarbajanin Puja Committee President Shri Jayant Deb, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Shri Basudeb Dhar, its Adviser Shri Subrata Chowdhury, and noted physician Dr. Arup Ratan Chowdhury, among others, were present.
