KHULNA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - BNP-nominated candidate for the Khulna-2 constituency and former lawmaker Nazrul Islam Manju said Bangladesh is moving toward a democratic transition, with BNP leaders and activists across the country now more united than ever.

"We want victory for the sheaf of paddy. It is more than an election symbol, it represents Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. The paddy sheaf is the symbol of the common people," he said while conducting a day-long election campaign in the city on Tuesday.

In the morning, Manju visited Kids' Campus Kindergarten School on Sher-e-Bangla Road, where he met teachers, guardians and students, exchanged floral greetings and cut a cake at a class programme as chief guest.

The event was presided over by Abul Bashar, with former councillor Shamsher Ali Mintu attending as special guest.

He later exchanged greetings with teachers and staff of Rupsha Multipurpose High School, Rupsha Government Primary School and Dhaka Match Factory Secondary School.

Manju also took part in a views-exchange meeting on implementing the master plan for establishing Khulna Medical University.

In the evening, he visited Popular Diagnostic Centre, City Imaging Centre and staff of Mutual Bank on KDA Avenue, where he exchanged floral greetings.

Under the coordination of Khairul Islam Lal, he addressed meetings of the Agrani Bank Officers' Welfare Association and the Agrani Bank Employees' Union as chief guest.

Speaking at these programmes, the BNP candidate said the interim government has announced a tentative schedule and an election environment has begun to take shape. "Everyone must work together to ensure votes for the sheaf of paddy," he added.

BNP leaders Jafrullah Khan Sachchu, Arifuzzaman Apu, Nazrul Islam Babu, Asaduzzaman Murad, Iqbal Hossain Khokon, Mehedi Hasan Dipu, Anwar Hossain, Yusuf Harun Majnu, Mojibur Rahman Fayez, Niaz Ahmed Tuhin and Shamsuzzaman Chanchal, among others, were present during the campaign.
