Mother, daughter killed in Bogura road crash

BOGURA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - A woman and her daughter were killed when a pickup truck hit their scooty at Adamdighi upazila of the district yesterday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Nazira Akhter Mim, 27, a Quran teacher, and her two-year-old daughter Nazifa Akhter.

Nazira's husband, Ramzan Ali Tota, an imam of a local mosque, who was also riding the scooty, was seriously injured. He is now undergoing treatment at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. 

The family were residents of Chhatni village under Shantahar Union Parishad in the same upazila.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the accident took place at Paikpara intersection when the pickup, loaded with silage, hit the scooty while giving way to an auto-rickshaw.

The mother and daughter died on the spot. On information, the fire service and police rescued the injured and took him to the hospital.

Adamdighi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Mostafizur Rahman said the bodies were handed over to the family.

"A pickup truck and two other vehicles were seized from the spot. However, the pickup driver managed to flee. Legal proceedings are underway in this regard," he added.
