TANGAIL, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - A young boy drowned in a pond on Tuesday morning in Kalihati upazila of the district while reportedly learning swimming.
The victim was identified as Yunusur Rahman Hridoy, 18, son of Md Abdur Rahman of Pach Jowair village in the district.
"Hridoy went to the upazila parishad pond accompanied by his mother to learn swimming after being selected in Bangladesh Army. While practicing swimming with a car tube, he suddenly drowned," Kalihati thana officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman told BSS.
Later, locals rushed him to upazila health complex where doctors on duty declared him dead.
"An unnatural death case has been filed in this connection," said the OC.
