Religious harmony ensures peaceful Durga Puja celebrations: senior secretary

KHULNA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani today said that people of all faiths in Bangladesh are celebrating their religious festivals peacefully, reflecting the nation's long tradition of communal harmony.

He made the remarks while visiting several Durga Puja mandaps in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district.

"Durga Puja is the biggest festival of the Hindu community, but it has evolved into a celebration embraced by all in Bangladesh," he said while exchanging views with devotees.

The senior secretary praised Bangladesh's interfaith unity, noting that citizens of all religious backgrounds can observe their festivals without fear or disruption.

Khulna Range DIG of Police Md. Rezaul Haque, Jashore Deputy Commissioner Md. Azaharul Haque, Superintendent of Police Rownaq Jahan, BNP's National Executive Committee Assistant Secretary for Religious Affairs Amlendu Das Apu, Keshabpur UNO and local temple committee leaders were present on the occasion.

This year, nearly 100 Durga Puja mandaps have been set up across Keshabpur's 12 unions and municipal area.
