Third day of seven-day boat race held in Kurigram

KURIGRAM, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS) - The third day of a seven-day traditional small (Dingi) boat race was held today on the Baromasia River in Fulbari upazila of the district.

The event, organized in memory of the late Shamshul Pagla, drew thousands of spectators from the local community. 

The race is being coordinated by Dulal Mia and the local youth society and began on September 29 at 4 pm, according to the organizers.

They added that the races are held every two days, with around eight to ten small boats competing in each event.

Rokhsana Khatun, a local teacher said this is the first time small canoe boat racing competitions are being organized in the area.
