DU VC mourns language movement veteran Ahmed Rafiq's death

Dhaka, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed deep grief at the death of veteran Language Movement activist Ahmed Rafiq.

In a condolence message issued today, the VC said Ahmed Rafiq played a pivotal role in the historic Language Movement and the nation will forever remember his contributions with deep respect.

"He authored over a hundred books, including works on the Language Movement, poetry, and essays. His writings will continue to inspire the younger generation," the Vice Chancellor said, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

Ahmed Rafiq passed away on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
 
He was 96.
