Fugitive death-row convict arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 17, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a fugitive death-row convict from Alikhan Mosque area under Chawkbazar Police Station in Chattogram last night

The arrested was Khorshedul Alam Prakash Abul Kalam, 58, son of the late Sirajul Haque of Nanupur Union of Fatikchhari upazila.

On a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a drive in the area last night and arrested Kalam, said Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7, Chattogram, A.R.M. Mozaffar Hossain.

The arrested accused has been handed over to Fatikchhari police station for further legal action. 

On April 11, 2011, Yunus, an expatriate, was hacked to death in Nanupur village of Fatikchhari upazila due to a land dispute. On April 12 of the same year, Khatija Akhter, the wife of the deceased, filed a murder case with Fatikchhari police station as the plaintiff. 

On January 30, 2019, the Speedy Trial Tribunal sentenced two brothers, Jahedul Alam Prakash Loha Jahed and Khorshedul Alam Prakash Abul Kalam, to death for their involvement in the murder.
