CHUADANGA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - Five traders of Nilmoniganj Bazar and Amirpur in Sadar upazila have been fined Taka 66,000 for illegally selling fertilizer and keeping food open.
The Department of Consumer Rights Protection conducted the drive around 1.30 pm at Nilmoniganj and Amirpur areas of the upazila and fined the traders, said Mamunul Hasan, assistant director of the district office of Consumer Rights Protection.
Fertilizers, seeds, medicines and a few hotels were inspected during the drive conducted from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. At this time, Bismillah Hotel was fined Taka 3,000 while Mukta Misti Hotel was fined Taka 3,000 for keeping food open.
In addition, Mostafa Traders was fined Taka 20,000 while Bhai Bhai Traders Taka 20,000 and Brothers Traders was fined Taka 20,000 for illegally selling fertilizer.
The other shopkeepers in the market were instructed to update the price list of products, buy and sell products at the fixed price, preserve fertilizer and pesticide purchase and sale receipts, and not sell expired and substandard medicines, seeds and fertilizers, the Consumer Rights Protection official added.
