World Statistics Day observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - The World Statistics Day and National Statistics Day 2025 were jointly observed in the city today.

This year's theme is 'Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone.' 

Marking the day, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner's office, with Acting Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Shah attending as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that accurate and well-organized statistical data are vital for effective planning and sustainable development.

"The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has made remarkable progress in recent years. The quality of national planning largely depends on the quality of statistical data," he added.

He also said that modern technology enables quick access to global data, and countries with strong statistical capacity are often the most advanced in development indicators.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas presided over the event, while Additional Superintendent of Police Md Khairul Alam was present as the special guest.

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from the Divisional Commissioner's office premises that paraded different city streets to mark the day.
