World Statistics Day observed in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - The World Statistics Day and the National Statistics Day - 2025 was observed in Manikganj under the joint auspices of Manikganj District Administration and the District Statistics Office today.

Marking the day, a colourful rally was brought out in the district town with the participation of government officials, social workers and the local journalists of print and electronic media.

After the rally, a discussion was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj Dr Manwar Hossein Malla presided over the function.

The function was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Ali, Deputy Director of Statistics Md. Minar Uddin, District Information Officer Nur Hossain and District Education Officer Md Amir Hossain.

This year's theme is 'Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone,' underscoring the importance of reliable, high-quality data in decision-making, effective policy development, and sustainable progress.

The speakers said no nation can develop without statistics, as future planning and development depend on it. Accurate statistics form the foundation of an improved life, while inaccurate statistics can cause devastation, they added.

They said flawless statistics can play a pioneering role in proper planning and that there is no alternative to qualitative statistical information for formulating effective plans.

All authorities and concerned should come forward and work together to collect and furnish authentic statistics and information to all nation building issues.
