CHATTOGRAM, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - A breast cancer awareness and training programme was held today with the participation of 300 female members of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

The programme included both an interactive session and hands-on practical training.

The event was inaugurated by CMP Deputy Commissioner Niskriti Chakma at the CMP multipurpose shed.

Dr. Md. Rabiul Hasan Chowdhury, Superintendent of Chattogram Divisional Police Hospital, led the training session, while Dr. Khurshid Jamil Chowdhury, Chairman of CSCR and Dr. Saira Banu Shiuli, Head of the Women's Surgeons' Team, also addressed the participants.

Deputy Commissioner Niskriti Chakma stressed the importance of health protection for all police personnel and noted that early detection of illnesses like breast cancer can significantly reduce mortality.

She praised the joint efforts of Chattogram City Corporation, CSCR, and PGS Academia in organizing the program.

Dr. Saira Banu Shiuli and her medical team conducted practical demonstrations, motivational sessions, and video tutorials for the participants.

Officials said the awareness campaign, organized by Chattogram City Corporation in partnership with CSCR and PGS Academia, includes free treatment, discounted tests, and free breast surgery throughout October.

Free screening and consultations are being offered at CSCR Hospital every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday from 3 pm to 6 pm, with breast cancer surgeries for eligible patients continuing throughout the month under the City Mayor's initiative.
