CHATTOGRAM, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - A dead Katla fish weighing approximately 20 kg was found in the Halda River in the Azim Ghat area, a renowned natural fish breeding ground in Raozan.

On Wednesday, Raozan Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Tofazzel Hossain Fahim confirmed the incident.

During a routine patrol in the river in Azim Ghat area on Tuesday around 11 pm, night guard Md. Rawshangir Alam discovered the fish floating in a partially melted state and retrieved it.
After the rescue, Tofazzel Hossain Fahim, the Senior Fisheries Officer of Raozan Upazila, arrived at the scene at 12:15 am and conducted an assessment of the fish.

He reported that the Katla fish, measuring approximately 26 inches in length, was estimated to be around 11-12 years old. No signs of injury were observed on the fish's body.

However, due to significant decomposition, it was not possible to examine its internal organs thoroughly. Fahim stated that initial findings suggest the fish was a male and likely died of old age. Following the investigation, the deceased fish was buried with the assistance of local residents.
