BGB seizes Indian goods worth Tk 1cr from border areas

CUMILLA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today seized Indian goods valued at more than Tk 1.15 crore during drives in border areas.

The drives were carried out by the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) under the Cumilla Sector, targeting border-adjacent areas in Burichang and Brahmanpara upazilas of Cumilla and Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The seized items included high-quality Indian sarees and various food products. The Indian premium sarees alone were valued at Tk 97.92 lakh, while the food items were worth Tk 17.45 lakh.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ziaur Rahman, commanding officer of the Sultanpur Battalion, said the seizures were made as part of regular monitoring and enforcement drives along the frontier.

According to BGB sources, the confiscated goods will be handed over to the relevant customs authorities after the completion of legal formalities.
