2 held with 1,900 yaba in Mirsarai

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested two bus passengers with 1,900 Yaba tablets during a raid on a bus in Mirsarai upazila early today.

The arrestees have been identified as Bidhu Kumar Shill, 56, from Shilkhali area of Pekua upazila, and Bimal Dhar, 55, from Dakshin Mithachari union in Ramu upazila, both in Cox's Bazar district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team searched a passenger bus of S Alam Paribahan (Registration No. Chatt Metro-B-11-1071) on the Chattogram-Dhaka highway near the Tarakatia area of Mirsarai municipality around 1:30 am. 

Two passengers, sitting in seats D-1 and D-2, were behaving suspiciously and were subsequently searched.

Police recovered a total of 1,900 Yaba tablets, 950 from each suspect. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is about Tk 5.8 lakh.

Mirsarai Police Station OC Atiqur Rahman confirmed that the accused were arrested under the Narcotics Control Act and have been presented in court.
