Woman killed as train runs over her in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) - A 50-year-old woman was killed as a train ran over her in Kadikhol-Dhelapir area under Saidpur upazila of the district this morning.
 
The deceased was Monifa Begum, wife of Muzaffar Hossain of Laxmanpur village under Bangalipur union of the upazila.
 
On information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body from the railway tracks.
 
Family sources said Monifa Begum had been suffering from mental illness for a long time. She would often leave the house without informing anyone. She left the house around 7:30 am on Friday and did not return. 
 
Mahmud Un Nabi, Officer-in-Charge of Syedpur Railway Police Station, confirmed the matter.
