NATORE, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - The Roads Department in Natore has launched an eviction drive to remove illegal establishments along the highway and main roads within the municipality area.

The operation began at 9.30 am on Sunday, led by Executive Magistrate of the Roads and Highway Department Asfaqul Haque Chowdhury.

Officials said the effort aims to ensure safer and more orderly roadways.

Executive Engineer of the department Kamrul Hasan Sarkar said that similar drives have been carried out several times in the past. However, this time authorities will introduce round-the-clock monitoring to prevent re-encroachment.

“If illegal establishments are rebuilt, strict action will be taken, including financial penalties,” he warned.

Executive Magistrate Asfaqul Haque Chowdhury said that all illegal structures within the Roads Department's jurisdiction are being cleared, noting that many owners have voluntarily removed their establishments ahead of the operation.

Prior to the eviction, the Natore Roads Department conducted a two-day awareness campaign using loudspeakers, urging the removal of illegal establishments from the Baraharishpur bypass to the Banbelgharia bypass, as well as other main roads in the town.
