DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Jashore superintendent of police (SP) Proloy Kumar Joarder over graft allegations.

Judge Shihabul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition stated that an investigation officer has been appointed to probe allegations that Proloy Kumar Joarder was involved in extortion and smuggling, and he amassed wealth at home and abroad in his name and in the names of his family members.

It said that during the investigation, credible sources revealed that the accused was attempting to secretly leave the country. If he manages to flee abroad, it would hinder the collection of important records and evidence related to the allegations.

"Moreover, such an act could disrupt the overall investigation process and potentially cause harm to the state. Therefore, it is essential, in the interest of a fair investigation, to restrict the foreign travel of the accused," it added.
