500 kg of carp fish fry released in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 500 kg of carp fish fry has been released in different water bodies of Bauphal upazila under the Climate Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Aminul Islam inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at the upazila parishad premises on Monday afternoon.

Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer MM Parvez presided over the programme. Project-related officials, public representatives and local fishermen were present on the occasion.

Fish fry were released in several locations including 200 kg in the canal adjacent to Bauphal Hosnabad Daspara (municipality), 160 kg in the canal adjacent to Sultanabad Madrasa (Nazirpur) and 140 kg in the canal at Kalaiya adjacent to Bagi Bazar.

This initiative will continue in the future to ensure sustainable development in water resource management.

UNO Aminul Islam said, "By releasing fish fry in the water bodies, local fish resources will increase, biodiversity will be protected and ordinary fishermen will benefit. The government is continuously working to increase fish production and protect water resources."
