Farmer killed in road accident in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed yesterday when a drum truck hit his bicycle at the Teltupi Bazar area in Harinakundu upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Robjel Mridha, 50, of Hariar Ghata village under Bhayna union in Harinakundu upazila.

Police said Robjel, a farmer, was riding his bicycle to Teltupi Bazar on Friday afternoon. When he reached near the Teltupi bridge area, a drum truck coming from behind hit him, leaving him dead on the spot. Police later recovered the body and took it to Harinakundu Police Station.

Sub-Inspector, Shahidul Islam Howlader of Harinakundu Police Station confirmed the matter.

The truck has been seized, though its driver managed to flee, SI said.

He also said the body of the deceased has been sent to the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and will be handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures.
