Over 200 distressed eye patients receive free glasses in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - More than 200 distressed eye patients in Shailkupa upazila of the district received free eyeglasses today, thanks to a humanitarian initiative undertaken by the voluntary organization Aftab Uddin Smriti Foundation.

The distribution program began at 10 am in Piragati village under Nityanandapur union, with the foundation's founder and chairman, Asaduzzaman, presiding over the event.

Former UP member Rais Uddin Molla, United Community Club member secretary Rabiul Islam, and several local dignitaries attended the ceremony.

According to the organizers, the beneficiaries had earlier undergone free cataract surgeries arranged by the foundation. After follow-up eye examinations, glasses were provided to over 200 patients to support their post-surgery vision needs.

They added that the initiative aims to extend humanitarian assistance to disadvantaged members of society and help improve their quality of life through accessible eye care services.
