Truck driver killed in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - A truck driver was killed in a head-on collision between two trucks in Jhenaidah on Tuesday night. 

The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 60, hailed from Shapahati village under Shalikha upazila in Magura district.

The accident occurred around 9:30 pm near Markaz Mosque area on the Dhaka-Jhenaidah highway adjacent to the town.

Police and locals said a sand-laden truck traveling from Panchagarh towards Jashore collided head-on with a straw-laden truck coming from Magura in front of the Markaz Mosque, leaving the straw-laden truck's driver, Rabiul Islam, critically injured.

On information, Fire Service personnel rescued him and took him to Jhenaidah General Hospital where physicians declared him dead.

Dr Hamidur Rahman Belal, Emergency Department physician at Jhenaidah General Hospital, said Rabiul Islam died due to excessive bleeding before reaching the hospital.

Confirming the incident, Arappur Highway Police In-Charge Mrityunjoy Biswas said both the trucks involved in the accident have been seized while the body has been kept at the morgue of Jhenaidah General Hospital.
