Elderly man killed after being hit by train in Tejgaon

DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - An elderly man, whose identity could not be confirmed immediately, was killed after being struck by a train at the Babul Bagh Intersection in Nakhalpara, Tejgaon, in the capital on Saturday evening.

According to police and witnesses, the man, around 60, was walking along the railway tracks at 6 pm when a train heading toward Kamalapur hit him. He died on the spot.

Passersby later rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at 1:45 am on Sunday.

Mohammad Abu Raihan, who helped bring the victim to the hospital, said the accident occurred suddenly while the man was walking on the railway track.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the incident and said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The Dhaka Railway Police Station has been informed for further investigation.
