Army distributes winter clothes to cold-stricken residents in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army today distributed winter clothes to cold-stricken residents of Ghagra Union under Kaukhali upazila, while local students received sports equipment and financial assistance, as part of its ongoing Harmony and Development Project.

The distribution ceremony was held this morning in the grounds of Chelachara Government Primary School, jointly organized by the Rangamati Region and Sadar Zone of the Bangladesh Army. 

Rangamati Region Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammad Nazmul Haque attended the event as the chief guest.

Rangamati Sadar Zone Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ekramul Rahat, local UP member Montu Chakma, Chelachara Government Primary School Headmaster Nalini Mohan Chakma, Harangi Bahumuthi High School Assistant Teacher Krishna Ratan Chakma, community representatives Amar Bindu Chakma, Purnadhan Chakma, and Shivamoni Chakma were also present.

In his speech, Brig. Gen. Haque emphasized the army's commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of all communities in the hill districts alongside maintaining law and order. 

During the event, winter clothes were distributed to more than 200 helpless and distressed individuals, while students from two schools and residential hostels received sports equipment and cash aid.
