Rajshahi set to celebrate Victory Day tomorrow

RAJSHAHI, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - All preparations have been completed to mark Victory Day in the district tomorrow.

The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), district and divisional administrations, and various organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

The programmes include hoisting of the national flag atop all public and private buildings, a 31-gun salute at district police lines, placing of wreaths at monuments to pay homage to martyrs, decorating city streets with national flags and colorful posters, and illumination of all public buildings, roads, and street islands in the evening.

At 9am, the national flag will be hoisted formally with recitation of the national anthem, students' gathering, march-past, and display at the Liberation War Memorial Stadium.

Gallantry award-winning and other valiant freedom fighters will be accorded a reception at Shilpakala Academy. A victory fair will also be arranged on the Shilpakala Academy premises.

RCC authorities will open the daylong programmes by placing wreaths at Bhuban Mohan Park Shaheed Minar early tomorrow morning.

Division Commissioner Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid will place floral wreaths at the Collectorate Building, Shaheed Minar, and subsequently inaugurate the victory fair.

Special prayers will be held at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship.

Improved diet will be served to inmates of hospitals, jails, orphanages, and shelters in the district on the occasion.

To mark the day, patriotic song competitions, discussion meetings, prize distributions, and cultural programmes will be held at Shilpakala Academy and Shishu Academy.

Meanwhile, educational institutions including Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Rajshahi Medical University, and Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) have also arranged elaborate programmes to celebrate Victory Day.
