Training on small business management ends in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS)- A five-day long training for climate affected people on small business management ended at the office of a non-governmental development organisation located at Nashratpur area under Sadar upazila here today.
 
Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a Gaibandha-based NGO working across the country, arranged the training under Promoting Resilience, Opportunity and Socio-Economic Empowerment of Migrants or Climate Displaced Communities in Bangladesh (PROSPERITY) Project funded by Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
 
In this regard, a concluding ceremony was also held on the premises of the GUK office this morning with its Director Abu Sayem Md. Jannatun Nur in the chair. 

Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sadar upazila and executive magistrate Zahangir Alam Babu attended the function and distributed business materials to the trainees as the chief guest.
 
The GUK Director said the objective of the training was to help the climate affected youths and homemakers of the project command areas in income generating activities including small business through providing them with need base training in a bid to change their socio-economic condition gradually. 

Accordingly the training was arranged for 14 climate affected people and then, business materials were distributed to them to run their small business in the respective area smoothly, he added. 

In reply to a query Senior Programme Manager of GUK Joya Prosad said the project is being implemented by the organisation at six unions of Sadar and Fulchhari upazilas of the district since 2023 with the financial support of AWO and BMZ. 

The chief guest, in his speeches, urged the project beneficiaries to be more serious to run their small business properly by utilizing the knowledge and business materials given by the organization to attain the cherished goals of the project and to make it a grand success as well.
 
The officials of the organisation and invited persons including journalists were present on the occasion.
