Mobile court fines 5 brick kilns Tk 23 lakh in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court jointly initiated by the Gaibandha district administration, Department of Environment and RAB-13 in daylong drives fined five brick kilns Taka 23 lakh in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha district on Wednesday.

The court fined owners of the brick kilns for violating the provisions of the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, 1995 (Amended-2013), a RAB-13 press release said here on Wednesday night.

Led by an Executive Magistrate of Gaibandha district administration, representatives of the Gaibandha District Police, Fire Service and Civil Defense and the Department of Environment participated in the drives. 

The mobile court was conducted after receiving information about the use of excessive sulfur, coal-containing ash and mercury and the establishment of brick kilns without permits in various brick kilns in Gaibandha district. 

The mobile court fined owners Md Al Mamun of Messer's Anwara Bricks Taka five lakh, Md Ashraful Habib of Messer's Sarkar Bricks Taka 4.50 lakh, Shariful Alam Ujjal of Messer's SI Bricks Taka 5.50 lakh, Md Aziz of AZB BRICS Taka three lakh and Anwar Hossain Sarkar of MAB BRICS Taka five lakh, the release added.
