Women crushed under wheels of train in Mongla

BAGERHAT, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - A young woman killed after being hit by a train in Digraj area of Mongla of the district. 

The deceased was identified as Naomi Biswas, 25, daughter of Dinesh Biswas of Riganpara area of Mongla municipality. 

The accident took place on the Vidyarvahan railway track in Digraj area of the upazila at around 1:45 pm today. 

According to police and local sources, the 'Mongla Commuter' train that left Benapole on Friday afternoon was heading towards Mongla Port. Naomi Biswas was cut off by it while the train was passing through Digraj's Vidyarvahan area.

On receiving information, Mongla police reached the spot and recovered the body. 

Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) Manik Chandra Gain confirmed the accident.
